CPC goodwill delegation visits UK

LONDON, March 27 -- Vice-minister Yu Hongjun of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee led a CPC goodwill delegation on a visit to the United Kingdom from March 24th to 27th. The delegation met respectively with George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and Douglas Alexander, Shadow Foreign Secretary of the Labor Party, and exchanged views with them on party-to-party relations as well as bilateral relations between China and the UK.

Stating that party-to-party relations constitute an important part of state-to-state relations, Yu said that enhanced exchanges between political parties can allow them to learn from each other’s best practices in state governance and help promote friendly cooperation between the two countries. The CPC is ready to strengthen its relations with the three major political parties in the UK at all levels in order to further grow the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UK, Yu said.

The British side commended UK-China relations as having entered a new phase with bright prospects for future cooperation, saying that to strengthen party-to-party exchanges serves the long-term interests of both sides. They expressed readiness to enhance mutual understanding through further dialogues and to inject new vitality for the growth of UK-China relations.
