Yu Hongjun meets with Chairman of Conservative Party

BEIJING, April 17-- Vice-minister Yu Hongjun of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met on 17th in Beijing with MP and Chairman of the Conservative Party Parliamentary China Group of UK Geoffrey Clifton-Brown and his Conservative Parliamentary delegation.

Yu spoke positively about the relations between China and UK and between the CPC and the Conservative Party saying that the two countries enjoy a sound momentum of diplomatic relations with frequent high-level mutual visits and fruitful results of cooperation in various fields. There are new opportunities and immense room for development of such relations. The CPC values its relations with the Conservative Party and wishes to see further exchanges and cooperation between the two sides which will contribute to a healthy and steady growth of the state-to-state relations.

Clifton-Brown said Britain also puts its relations with China high on the agenda believing that inter-party exchanges are very important for state-to-state relations. The Conservative Party is willing to step up exchanges with the CPC and further enrich the content of inter-party exchanges and promote the development of the relations between the two countries.

The two sides also shared views on other issues like the situations in Syria and Ukraine.
