Wang Jiarui meets with new Ambassador of the US to China

BEIJING, April 22 -- Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui met on 22nd of April in Beijing with the new Ambassador of the United States to China Max Baucus.

Wang said, in recent years, there have been frequent high-level contacts between China and the US. The leaders of the two countries have reached consensus on building a new model of major power relations. Cooperation between China and the US, respectively the world’s biggest developing country and the biggest developed country, will bring benefit to the rest of the world. Exchanges between political parties of the two countries can play a unique role. The Chinese side will make use of the platform of dialogue between political parties to deepen mutual understanding, have candid dialogues and enhance strategic mutual trust so as to promote a healthy and stable growth of the state-to-state relations.

Ambassador Baucus said the US welcomes the growth of China and that this is beneficial to both countries and to the rest of the world. There are multiple areas where the two countries can cooperate. He believes that US-China cooperation will help to find more solutions to regional and global issues. The US-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue is an opportunity for the two sides to step up communication and increase mutual knowledge. The American side is willing to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side through this channel and realize a win-win scenario.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on issues of shared interest.
