BEIJING, April 23 -- Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui met on 23rd in Beijing with Sigmar Gabriel, national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), vice-chancellor of Germany and minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.

Wang expressed welcome to Gabriel for his current visit to China. He recalled the historic contribution of the SPD to the development of China-Germany relations in the 1980s when the party transcended ideological differences to establish relations with the Communist Party of China. He introduced to the German vice-chancellor the effort of the new leadership team of China in promoting modernization of the state governance system and governance capability. Reforms in China, according to Wang, have entered a deep-water zone and there are many challenges and even obstacles. The Chinese side is willing to have further communication and cooperation with Germany and learn the good experience from the latter. The CPC is ready to strengthen friendly exchanges and join hands with the SPD to help pragmatic cooperation between the two parties and the two countries.

Gabriel said, this year is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the relations between the SPD and the CPC. Open and solemn events must be organized to mark the occasion so as to carry on the friendship between the two parties. Germany is following closely the current reforms in China. His country has also been through a transformation of the pattern of grow from focusing only on post-war reconstruction and industrialization to a sustainable model centred on technological innovation. Germany therefore is willing to step up collaboration with China in terms of economic development pattern and SME cooperation in order to obtain a win-win scenario.
