BEIJING, Aug 25 – Vice-Minister Li Jinjun of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with a delegation of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) of Germany led by its vice-chairman Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel.

Li said that the visit of the delegation has special meaning since this year marks the 30th anniversary of Willy Brandt’s visit to China as well as the establishment of relations between the CPC and the SPD. Li hoped that the two sides can take this as an opportunity to strengthen comprehensive exchanges and cooperation and further elevate relations between the two parties.

Schäfer-Gümbel said that the SPD attaches great importance to its relations with the CPC and is ready to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to bring relations between the two countries and the two parties to a new level.

Li also briefed the guests on the major tasks and priorities of the CPC at present upon request of the latter.
