BEIJING, Aug. 26 -- Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao met with a delegation of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) of Germany led by its vice-chairman Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel.

Li said that China embraces Germany as an important strategic partner and bilateral relations are facing new opportunities as this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the CPC and the SPD.

Li hoped that the two sides take this as an opportunity to strengthen inter-party exchanges at different levels, make good use of various dialogue mechanisms, enhance exchanges on governance experience and boost practical cooperation so as to further improve China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership.

Schäfer-Gümbel said that the SPD looks forward to closer exchanges with the CPC to better deal with joint challenges.
