The second CPC-SPD Sustainable Development Dialogue kicks off in Guangdong

BEIJING, Aug. 27 -- The second Sustainable Development Dialogue between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) was held on August 27 in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. Vice-Minister Li Jinjun of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Vice-Governor Chen Yunxian of Guangdong Province and Vice-Chairman Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel of the SPD attended the opening ceremony and addressed the audience. Officials and experts from China’s National People’s Congress, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Environmental Protection and authorities of Jieyang and Guangdong as well as business leaders and members of the SPD delegation, about 50 people, attended the dialogue.  

Representatives from China and Germany carried out in-depth discussions on the theme of Sustainable Urbanization. Regarded as a major activity in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the CPC and the SPD, the dialogue was co-hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation of Germany and co-organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, the CPC Jieyang Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Jieyang City.
