BEIJING, Sept. 11 -- Assistant Minister Li Jun of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met on the afternoon of September 11th with Taku Yamasaki, former vice-president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan.

After stating China’s positions and views over the current China-Japan relations, Li stressed that China and Japan are both important countries in the region and in the world and tensions between the two countries do not serve the common interests of the two sides. Li hoped the Japanese side could show sincerity and work with China in concrete actions to create favorable conditions for the improvement of China-Japan relations and to bring the bilateral ties back to the correct track at an early date.

Yamasaki expressed willingness to continue his efforts to help deepen exchanges between the LDP and the CPC and improve relations between Japan and China.
