BEIJING, Sept. 11 -- China vowed continued exchange of governing strategies with Cuba as communist party officials from both countries met in Beijing on Thursday.

The two countries share time-honored friendly relations, Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said during a meeting with Cuban Communist Party (CCP) members in the Great Hall of the People.

The Cuban delegation is headed by Mercedes Lopez Acea, a member of the Political Bureau of the CCP Central Committee and first secretary of the municipal CCP committee of Havana. They are in Beijing to attend the first CPC-CCP theory seminar.

Liu said Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Cuba in July was of great significance for improving friendly relations between the two countries. He said China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Cuba in all areas.

Noting China and Cuba share the same ideals and long-standing tradition of friendship, Liu said it is of great importance for the ruling communist parties of both countries to emphasize the crucial role of the communist party and exercise strict self control in the party.

Lopez said the Chinese president's visit to Cuba helped place bilateral relations at a new starting point. She said Cuba is actively updating its economic model and is ready to learn from China through exchanges between the communist parties so as to jointly advance the socialist cause.
