Indonesian outgoing president, president-electmeet with Wang Jiarui

JAKARTA, Sept. 16 -- Indonesian outgoing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and President-elect Joko Widodo met with Wang Jiarui, a senior official of the Communist Party of China ( CPC) here on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

Wang, who is vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said China attaches great importance to the China-Indonesia friendship and is willing to forge commonalities between the two countries in terms of development strategies as well as deepen the pragmatic cooperation.

China is ready to promote the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries together with the Indonesian new government, Wang added.

Wang said that CPC is willing to intensify the contact with Indonesian political parties and cement the popular support and political foundation for the relations between the two countries.

 

Susilo said he is pleased with the substantial progress made in the bilateral relations and ready to continue to play a role in promoting the friendly relations between the two countries.

 

Joko, who is expected to be inaugurated on Oct. 20 this year, said his new government will continue the friendly China policy.  

Joko hopes to have in-depth exchange on views on how to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries with Chinese President Xi Jinping when attending the 2014 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Meeting this November.

During the visit, Wang also met with Speaker of the People's Representative Council of Indonesia Marzuki Alie, Vice-President-elect Jusuf Kalla, Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Megawati Soekarnoputri and leaders from other political parties.
