Li Jun meets with Japanese guests

BEIJING, Sept. 22 -- Assistant Minister Li Jun of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met in Beijing on the afternoon of September 22nd with Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) Nagashima Akihisa and his team, who are visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.

Li stated China’s positions and viewpoints on the current China-Japan relations and other relevant issues, stressing that both China and Japan bear important responsibilities to promote peace and prosperity in the region and beyond. Tension doesn’t serve interests of either side, nor does it meet the common expectation of all countries in the world, according to Li. Li hoped that the Japanese side could show sincerity and work with China to create necessary conditions for the improvement of China-Japan relations.

Nagashima expressed his willingness to make continued efforts to deepen exchanges between the CPC and the DPJ and help improve China-Japan relations.
