Senior CPC official vows deepened cooperation with Germany's SPD

BEIJING, Nov. 17 -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Zhao Leji on Monday vowed to enhance cooperation and political mutual trust with Germany's Social Democratic Party (SPD).

Zhao, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee,made the remarks at a seminar commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of inter-party relationship between the CPC and the SPD.

In a keynote speech, he called on the CPC and the SPD to create a new type of inter-party relationship, to push forward the development of China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership as well as China-EU ties.

Thirty years ago, the CPC and the SPD forged inter-party relations in the spirit of transcending ideological differences and seeking mutual understanding and cooperation, said Zhao, also head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.

 

Standing at a new starting point, the CPC is ready to work with the SPD to enhance strategic planning, deepen exchanges and cooperation, cement political mutual trust, so as to push forward their ties and benefit the two peoples, he said.

Thorsten Schafer-Gumbel, vice chairman of the SPD, said the SPD hopes to increase mutual trust and exchanges with the CPC, and jointly push forward bilateral pragmatic cooperation in politics, economy, education, science and sustainable development.
