BEIJING, March 16 -- Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui met here today with President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz.

Wang expressed congratulations to Schulz on his reelection as the President of the European Parliament. Wang said the CPC has maintained a long running relation of effective dialogues and cooperation with the European Parliament and has established contact with the 6 major political groups in the European Parliament. There have been 4 sessions of the High-Level Political Parties Forum between China and Europe. This mechanism of exchange serves as an important pillar of China-Europe relations and the Chinese side is willing to continue improving it so as to make it a more useful platform of mutual understanding and collaboration, said Wang.

Schulz said the European Parliament values the dialogue and cooperation with the CPC. Against the background of globalization, China has become an important partner for Europe. The European side wishes to further deepen such dialogues on a wider array of topics including the economy, energy, climate change and counter-terror, and promote a healthy and steady growth of China-EU strategic Partnership.
