Dar-es-Salaam, July 17th—The CPC in Dialogue with World Political High-level Meeting Africa Thematic Event was held here in Tanzania. Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, President of Tanzania and Chairman of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), attended the opening ceremony and delivered key note speeches.

Song expressed that the first CPC in Dialogue with World Political High-level Meeting was successfully held in Beijing in 2017. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered an important speech. This year coincides with the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up and the “Year of Africa” in China’s diplomacy. It is the first time that the high-level meeting goes out of China and comes to Africa. The political parties of China and Africa jointly discuss the theories and practices in exploring development paths suitable to national situation, which will surely exert significant and positive influence on promoting development of China and African countries and increasing mutual exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

Song stressed that General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that “China has come this far because the Chinese people have, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, blazed a development path that suits China’s actual conditions.” We have always adhered to the leadership of the CPC and strengthened party building, upheld the people-centered development concept, and stuck to the comprehensive deepening of reform and opening up. At present, the Chinese dream and the African dream have undergone historic convergence, and China and Africa have become a community of shared future closely linking and sharing weal and woe together. The political parties of China and Africa should become the promoters and practitioners of China-Africa cooperation in the new era, as well as promoters and contributors of the building of a community of shared future for China and Africa. We stand ready to, together with African political parties, conduct exchanges and mutual learning to explore the development paths suitable to national conditions and build consensus for the building of a community of shared future for China and Africa in the new era.

Magufuli noted that the CPC in Dialogue with World Political High-level Meeting went out of China for the first time, and it came to Tanzania in Africa. It fully demonstrates the importance the CPC has attached to Africa as well as the profound friendship between Tanzania and China. Africa and China have supported each other in people-to-people and cultural exchanges, national liberation, and economic independence for a long time, becoming trustworthy partners. The political parties of Africa and China have also become close friends. Since the holding of the Forum on the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the proposal of the concept of policy towards Africa featuring sincerity, real results, affinity, and good faith by President Xi Jinping in particular, Africa-China cooperation has enjoyed vigorous development in all aspects and achieved fruitful outcomes. Prior to the holding of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, it is exactly the right time for the political parties of Africa and China to hold the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting Africa Thematic Event in Tanzania, and exchange on the “Theories and Practices of the CPC and African Political Parties in Exploring Development Paths Suitable to National Situation. Such gestures will surely inject strong impetus into and make the political parties’ contributions to higher-level exchanges and cooperation between Africa and China.

The CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting Africa Thematic Event was hosted by the CPC, and attended by nearly 100 leaders from about 40 political parties and political organizations of approximately 40 African countries. The event is a creative exploration of advancing the mechanism of the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting, which will provide wisdom and solutions of the political parties for the FOCAC Beijing Summit to be held in September.
