Song Tao Meets with BJP General Secretary

Beijing, August 15th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Ram Madhav, General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Song expressed that as an old friend of the Chinese people, Madhav has made positive contributions to exchanges between the CPC and the BJP. In recent years, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have held many meetings in various occasions, during which they reached strategic consensus on building a closer development partnership between the two countries to promote China-India relations to enter a fast lane of development. Since China and India are the two largest developing countries and the most vigorous emerging markets in modern world, a stable and cooperative China-India relationship is not only of important significance for respective development of both countries, but also will cast far-reaching influence on safeguarding regional and world peace and development.

Song said that the CPC is willing to, together with the BJP, further strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation, enhance strategic communication, deepen friendly consensus, expand practical cooperation, and enhance international coordination, so as to jointly commit to playing a political leading role in the development of China-India relations through the high-level relations between the two parties, and jointly lay a sound foundation for building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Appreciating Song’s positive comments and favorable suggestions on the relations between the two parties and the two countries, Madhav expressed that the important consensus reached by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping has not only brought the feelings of the two peoples closer, but also intensified practical cooperation between the two countries. The Indian side expects cooperation between both sides to embark on a fast lane at an early date.
