Song Tao Meets with Delegation of Pakistani Senate

Beijing, August 17—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation of Pakistani Senate headed by Sadiq Sanjrani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan.

Song congratulated Sanjrani on his election as Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, and spoke positively of Sanjrani’s contributions to promoting China-Pakistan friendly cooperation for a long time. Song expressed that China and Pakistan have enjoyed an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, and China-Pakistan relations have scored substantial progress especially since President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan in 2015. All main political parties in Pakistan have upheld friendship with China, and have increasingly deepened the exchanges and cooperation with the CPC. The political parties of the two countries have always played an important political leading role in the development of China-Pakistan relations. The CPC is willing to further promote all-round exchanges and cooperation between the political parties of both countries at a higher level, in a wider range and with diversified forms, so as to consolidate the political foundation of China-Pakistan relations with more fruitful cooperation outcomes.

Sanjrani noted that no matter how the international situation changes, the Pakistan-China friendship is always brimming with new vitality as time goes by. The Pakistani side thanks China for providing it with long-term and selfless assistance, and speaks highly of China’s great development achievements led by the CPC under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping. Sanjrani expressed that the main political parties of Pakistan all commit to enhancing the friendly exchanges with the CPC, and hope to advance Pakistan-China relations at a higher level through the new outcomes achieved from the exchanges and practical cooperation between the political parties of both countries.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on promoting the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and expected that this flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative will be advanced smoothly and steadily.
