Beijing, August 24th—Wang Yajun, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation of the Japan-China Society headed by Noda Takeshi, President of the Society and Member of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Speaking positively of the contributions to the development of China-Japan relations the Japan-China Society, Noda and others have made, Wang hoped that Japan would cherish the current hard-won momentum of improvement in bilateral relations and constantly consolidate the political, economic and public opinion foundations of bilateral relations, so as to ensure continuous and forward-looking development of China-Japan relations in the right direction.

Noda noted that against the background of the current turbulent international situation, it is of great significance for Japan and China to strengthen cooperation. The Japan-China Society is willing to take the 40th anniversary of the signing of Japan-China Treaty of Peace and Friendship as an opportunity to make efforts to further consolidate the development momentum of improvement in bilateral relations.
