Song Tao Meets with CPP Vice President and President of Cambodian Senate

Phnom Penh, August 29th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Say Chhum, Vice President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of the Senate of Cambodia.

First congratulating on the victory of the CPP in the sixth general election, Song expressed that the winning of the CPP demonstrated the Cambodian people’s trust for the CPP and recognition for the achievements of the Cambodian government headed by Prime Minister Hun Sen. General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a message to congratulate President Hun Sen immediately after the result of the general election had been published. The Chinese side firmly supports Cambodia in following a development path that suits its national conditions and the Cambodian side’s efforts for maintaining sovereignty and independence, national security and social stability, and stands ready to provide assistance within its capacity for social and economic development of Cambodia. The CPC attaches importance to its friendly relations with the CPP, and is willing to well implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties, and deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two parties to promote the in-depth development of China-Cambodia relations.

Say Chhum thanked the firm and long-term support and assistance of the CPC and the Chinese government for Cambodia. He expressed that the CPP stands ready to take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China as an opportunity, further intensify friendly exchanges and cooperation with the CPC, and strengthen exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, in a bid to propel relations between the two parties and the two countries to reach new stages.
