Beijing, August 29th—Wang Yajun, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation headed by Koizumi Ryuji, International Minister of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan.

Wang expressed that China and Japan are important neighbors to each other. Against the current international situation that is full of uncertainties and instabilities, it is of greater significance for China and Japan to maintain stable development of bilateral relations. It is hoped that the Japanese side will cherish the hard-won improved situation, adhere to the spirit of the principles of four political documents between the two countries, implement the four-point principled consensus, properly handle sensitive issues, and actively expand bilateral and practical cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, in a bid to accumulate more positive energy for the improvement and development of China-Japan relations.

Koizumi noted that the Japanese side is willing to, together with the Chinese side, continue to deepen practical cooperation, jointly promote regional economic integration, and play a positive role in further consolidating the improved development momentum of bilateral relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on China-Japan ruling party exchange mechanism and other topics.
