President of South Sudan Meets with Song Tao

Beijing, September 1st—Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of South Sudan and President of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), who was in China for the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit, visited the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) and met with Song Tao, Minister of the IDCPC on the morning.

Song Tao expressed that President Xi Jinping and President Salva Kiir Mayardit held a successful talk, charting the course for the development of relations between the two parties and the two countries. The CPC attaches importance to its friendly relations with the SPLM, and stands ready to further enhance high-level exchanges, enrich the exchanges between and inspections of cadres at all levels, and deepen communication on experience of party governance and state administration, in a bid to make positive contributions to elevating relations between the two countries and benefitting the two peoples.

Kiir spoke highly of the friendly relations between ruling parties of South Sudan and China. He expressed that the SPLM and the CPC, as ruling parties of the two countries, enjoy profound friendship foundation. They have both grown in national independence and liberation and striven to develop economy and improve peoples’ livelihood. The further enhancement of communication and cooperation with the CPC is of important significance for the SPLM to learn from the CPC and improve its governance capacity, and will play a positive role in promoting cooperation in various fields.

After the meeting, Kiir witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation between the two parties by Song Tao and Bol Makueng Yuol, SPLM Secretary for External Relations.
