Song Tao Meets with Vice Chairman of Japan Business Federation and President of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation

Tokyo, October 11th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Akio Mimura, Vice Chairman of Japan Business Federation and President of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation.

Song spoke positively of Japan Business Federation’s long-term commitment to developing China-Japan friendly relations through strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, and appreciated its active participation in and support for China-Japan inter-party exchanges. Song said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship as well as the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up. It is hoped that Japan Business Federation will seize the important opportunity of the current improvement and development of the relations between the two countries, strengthen China-Japan cooperation in practical areas under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and push the construction of the international demonstration zone of China-Japan cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in Fujian for substantial progress as soon as possible, in a bid to benefit the two peoples.

Akio Mimura noted that Japan Business Federation attaches great importance to the important role of inter-party exchanges in Japan-China relations, and stands ready to continue committing to intensifying Japan-China cooperation in relevant economic fields.

Zheng Xincong, Vice Governor of Fujian Province attended the meeting and introduced the current construction progress of the international demonstration zone of China-Japan cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
