Islamabad, October 14th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

Song expressed that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. The relations between the two countries have experienced international vicissitudes and are brimming with new vitality as time goes by. Since President Xi Jinping’s successful visit to Pakistan in 2015, China-Pakistan relations have made substantial progress. The CPC is willing to work with the PTI to further deepen relations between the two parties, carry out institutional exchanges and cooperation of a higher lever and give full play to the political guiding role of the ruling parties of the two countries to relations between the two countries, in a bid to constantly push China-Pakistan relations and cooperation between the two countries under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative to new highs.

Qureshi noted that the two countries enjoy profound traditional friendship. China has a special and important position in the heart of the Pakistani people. The new Pakistani government fully supports the one and only Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and has all along regarded its friendship with China as the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy. The PTI hopes to constantly elevate the institutional level of exchanges between the ruling parties of the two countries and learn the experience in state governance and administration from the CPC in an in-depth way, so as to guide Pakistan-China relations and practical cooperation between the two countries for constant development.

After the meeting, Song and Qureshi signed a memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation between the Communist Party of China and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on behalf of the two Parties.
