Song Tao Meets with Study Group of ANC National Executive Committee

Beijing, October 23rd—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a study group of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa headed by Hlengiwe Mkhize, Member of the ANC National Executive Committee.

Song said that the year of 2018 is an important year for China-South Africa relations and exchanges between political parties of the two countries. President Xi Jinping and President Cyril Ramaphosa reached important consensus on developing the relations between the two Parties and the two countries during their mutual visits, which should be well implemented. Exchanges between the CPC and the ANC of South Africa, both as the ruling parties, play an important political guiding role in the development of China-South Africa relations. We are willing to strengthen party-to-party exchanges and exchanges of experience in party governance and state administration with the ANC to promote the in-depth development of China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership.

Mkhize noted that the ANC of South Africa attaches great importance to this visit with the delegation members including principals of major departments and officials from the grass-roots units of the ANC, and hopes to understand the CPC’s successful experience in party building and boosting economic development, and improve governance capacity through this visit, in a bid to contribute to developing the relations between the two Parties and the two countries.

Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting.
