ROK Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon Meets with Li Hongzhong

Seoul, October 25th--Lee Nak-yeon, Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea (ROK) met here today with Li Hongzhong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee.

Li said that at present, under the joint guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Moon Jae-in, China-ROK relations have maintained a good momentum of development and have made encouraging progress in exchanges and cooperation in such fields as politics, economy and people-to-people and cultural engagement. The development of China-ROK relations not only conforms to the common interests of the two countries and the two peoples, but also plays an important role in promoting regional peace, stability and prosperity. China is willing to work with the ROK to continuously enhance understanding and trust based on the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and ensure the long-term and stable development of the relations between the two countries. The CPC is willing to continue to deepen friendly exchanges with major political parties in the ROK, strengthen mutual learning, and play a greater role in promoting the development of bilateral relations.

Speaking highly of China’s historic achievements in the past 40 years of reform and opening up, Lee Nak-yeon said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the ROK and China 26 years ago, bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, and science and technology has enjoyed rapid development. At present, under the leadership of the leaders of the two countries, ROK-China relations have entered a new stage of development. The ROK is willing to, together with China, seek common ground while resolving differences, march forward hand in hand, achieve win-win cooperation and forge a better future for bilateral relations, in a bid to make positive contributions to promoting regional peace and stability.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ROK, Li headed the CPC delegation to visit the ROK from October 24th to 27th. During the visit, Li also met respectively with Lee Ju-young, Deputy Speaker of the ROK National Assembly, Lee Hae-chan, Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kang Kyung-wha, Foreign Minister of the ROK and Park Nam-chun, Mayor of Inchon. Li also attended the signing ceremony of cooperation projects between Tianjin and Inchon, and inspected Samsung Group and SK Group.
