Pretoria, December 4th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, held talks here today on the afternoon with Ace Magashule, Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa.

Song noted that China and South Africa enjoy a time-honored friendship which becomes even firmer as time goes by. Since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping and President Cyril Ramaphosa successfully exchanged visits and met with each other for three times, during which they conducted in-depth communication and reached extensive consensus on international and domestic issues, guiding the relations between both Parties and both countries for new development. The CPC actively supports the ANC in hosting the second BRICS Political Parties Plus Dialogue to jointly promote the development of BRICS cooperation mechanism. Highly valuing its friendly relations with the ANC, the CPC stands ready to make joint efforts with the ANC in continuing maintaining the momentum of high-level exchanges, strengthening strategic communication, deepening exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, advancing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and implementing the important consensus reached by top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, so as to promote China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership for in-depth development.

Magashule expressed that under the active guidance of the two heads of state, South Africa-China relations have achieved historic development. The ANC sincerely thanked the CPC’s long-term strong support and assistance, and hoped to further enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties and increase mutual support and assistance, so as to actively propel the relations between the two countries. The ANC will continue actively facilitating the BRICS cooperation and jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries as well as world peace and stability.
