Song Tao Meets with Leader of Labour Party of Norway

Oslo, December 6th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Jonas Gahr Støre, Leader of the Labour Party of Norway.

Song comprehensively introduced Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the historic achievements of China's economic and social development in the past 40 years of reform and opening up. He spoke highly of China-Norway relations and said that China is willing to work with Norway to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, safeguard the political foundation of the normalization of relations between the two countries, and respect each other's core interests and major concerns. Both sides should deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields and jointly safeguard multilateralism and the multilateral trading system. He emphasized that political party exchanges shoulder the political leading responsibility for the development of China-Norway relations. The CPC is willing to further strengthen dialogue and exchanges with the Norwegian Labour Party at all levels, and explore the establishment of a new type of political party relations featuring seeking common ground while reserving differences, mutual respect and mutual learning based on new international relations.

Støre said that Norway-China relations have a long history. Strengthening the friendly relations between Norway and China and respecting China's core interests and major concerns are the established position of the Labour Party. The Norwegian Labour Party adheres to free trade, pursues multilateralism, and opposes trade protectionism and unilateralism. The Norwegian Labour Party is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation with the CPC at all levels and in all fields to jointly promote constant and new progress in the relations between Norway and China.
