The 169th Bergedorf Round Table Held in Beijing

From December 9th to 10th, the 169th Bergedorf Round Table, which was co-hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the German Colbert Foundation, was held in Beijing. It is themed with “EU-China Relations in a Changing Global Order”. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany, who was paying a visit to China, attended relevant activities. Dai Bingguo, former State Councilor, and Zhou Xiaochuan, President of China Society for Finance and Banking and Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, delivered speeches at relevant events and participated in the discussions.

Wang Jiarui, Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Wang said that since the inception of the Bergedorf Round Table, it has been actively committed to promoting mutual understanding among all countries. The Chinese side attaches great importance to China-EU relations, hoping that all participating delegates could enhance mutual understanding through in-depth dialogue to promote China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership for sustained and stable development.

Nearly 60 people including political heavyweights, governmental officials and think tank experts from China, the EU, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Poland, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia and other regions and countries attended the round table. The German Colbert Foundation hosted the Bergedorf Round Table in 1961, with the aim of promoting mutual understanding through the round table.
