Song Tao Meets with Japanese LDP Young Diet Delegation

Beijing, December 17th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with the young Diet delegation of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan led by Tsushima Jun, Member of the House of Representatives.

Song expressed that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, and both sides should jointly cherish and inherit the important contributions made by the older generation of leaders of the two countries to China-Japan relations. Since this year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have met successfully many times, which have pushed bilateral relations back to the track of normal development. The two sides should, in accordance with the principle and consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance political mutual trust, strengthen non-governmental friendship, expand economic and trade cooperation, properly handle relevant issues, further give play to the important role of communication mechanism between the ruling parties in promoting the improvement and development of China-Japan relations, and make new and positive efforts for the constant and forward-looking development of China-Japan relations.

Tsushima Jun noted that it is the important responsibility of Japanese young politicians to gain new insights through restudying old ones and carry on the traditional friendship between Japan and China. The Japanese side will take the current return of bilateral relations to the track of normal development as an opportunity to further consolidate the political foundation for bilateral relations, and strive to strengthen friendly exchanges between the two countries in various fields, so as to jointly build a brighter future for the relations between the two countries.
