At the invitation of the government of Tonga, Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, led a CPC delegation to visit Tonga from December 19th to 21st, during which he met on separate occasions with King Tupou VI, Lord Fakafanua, Speaker of the Parliament, Semisi Lafu Kioa Sika, Deputy Prime Minister, and others. Guo introduced Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of General Secretary Xi’s speech at a gathering celebrating the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up. Both sides exchanged views on deepening China-Tonga exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Speaking highly of Tonga-China relations, the Tongan side expressed the willingness to well implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries so as to push Tonga-China relations for further development.
