An art troupe from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has performed for three consecutive nights from January 26th to 28th at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing. The great performances struck a chord and were warmly received by the Chinese audience.

As the performances coincided with the dawning of the Chinese New Year, the Opera House of the NCPA was immersed in a warm and friendly atmosphere. “China-DPRK friendship” on the electronic screen was very eye-catching. The DPRK artists put on performances which they carefully prepared.

The enchanting shows aroused enthusiastic response from the audience. The reporter could feel the spiritual interactions among the viewers and the artists. During the shows, the ongoing applauses accompanied by the beats from the audience created rounds of climax. When the performance of each day came to an end, all the audience gave a sustained standing ovation, showing their love for the outstanding performance and their respect for the DPRK artists.

Calling it “wonderful” and “high quality”, the audience generally believed that the performance, a combination of songs and dances and also a combination of tradition and fashion, was not only a feast for the eyes and ears, but a cultural rendition of China-DPRK friendship.

“The songs and dances of the DPRK were vivid and graceful while the tap dance was really a surprise. Particularly, it excited me to hear the DPRK artists singing in pure Chinese many of the well-known Chinese songs such as ‘My Motherland’, ‘On the Field of Hope’ and ‘Unforgettable Tonight’”, an audience said.

Zhao Jiachen, Vice President of the NCPA expressed that the NCPA has held performances of the DPRK artists for many times, including musical drama "A Dream of Red Mansions". It is believed that the meticulously prepared, appealing and high-quality performances this time will leave a deep impression on the audience. Many Chinese songs have resonated with the audience, which brings the hearts of the two peoples closer and makes their emotional bonds tighter.

Relevant principals of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) said that the visit of the art troupe of the DPRK to China is a cultural exchange activity for implementing the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries. The performance carries both ideological and artistic significance and reflects the profound sentiments the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and people of the DPRK hold for the CPC and people of China. The high-quality performance gives the Chinese audience an opportunity to enjoy a cultural feast and is conducive to carrying forward the traditional China-DPRK friendship and further deepening the friendship between the two peoples.

At the invitation of the IDCPC, the DPRK art troupe headed by Ri Su-yong, Member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, Vice-Chairman of the WPK Central Committee and Director of the International Department, arrived in Beijing on January 24th to visit and perform in China.
