Song Tao Meets with Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services of Myanmar

Beijing, April 9th--Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services of Myanmar.

Song said that President Xi Jinping has met Min Aung Hlaing on many occasions, which has charted the course for China-Myanmar military cooperation and the development of China-Myanmar relations. The CPC attaches great importance to developing China-Myanmar relations and is ready to work with all major political forces in Myanmar to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and push for new progress in China-Myanmar relations.

Min Aung Hlaing recalled with deep affection the friendly scenes of President Xi's meetings on many occasions and was satisfied with the good results achieved in bilateral friendly cooperation in various fields. Min Aung Hlaing said that the Myanmar military firmly supports the friendly cooperation between Myanmar and China, and supports the major political parties in Myanmar to strengthen exchanges with the CPC and make joint efforts to safeguard the overall situation of Myanmar-China friendship.

Both sides also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Song Yanchao, Deputy Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of the Central Military Commission, attended the meeting.
