Li Xi Meets with Thai Prime Minister

Bangkok, June 10th—Li Xi, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, met here today with Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand.

Li first conveyed the warm greetings of President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Prayut, and congratulated King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on his coronation and Prayut on his re-election as Prime Minister. He said that in recent years, President Xi Jinping has met with you many times and reached a series of important consensus on developing bilateral relations. Li said his visit is aimed at implementing the consensus of the leaders of the two countries, deepening inter-party exchanges, and promoting pragmatic cooperation between Guangdong and Thailand. China is willing to work with Thailand to further align respective development strategies, enhance cooperation between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor, pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, promote economic globalization, and push China-Thailand and China-ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) relations for better development. Guangdong is willing to give full play to its advantages and strengthen cooperation in this aspect.

Prayut asked Li to convey his best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, expressed congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and spoke highly of China’s tremendous achievements under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He said that the Thai government will continue to uphold its policy of friendship with China, deepen cooperation in areas including agriculture, tourism, and communication technologies, accelerate the Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries as well as between ASEAN and China, strengthen the exchange of experience in state governance and administration, and jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system, in a bid to benefit people in the two countries and in the region.

At the invitation of the Thai government, Li led a CPC delegation to visit Thailand from June 8th to 11th. During the visit, he also met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and leaders of Palang Pracharath Party and Pheu Thai Party, attended China (Guangdong)-Thailand Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, met with representatives of overseas Chinese in Thailand and visited Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
