Beijing, July 5th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Sheikh Hasina, President of the Bangladesh Awami League and Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Song welcomed Hasina's first visit to China during her new term, saying that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to developing the relations between the two Parties and the two countries. During his visit to Bangladesh in 2016, President Xi and Your Excellency jointly elevated the China-Bangladesh relations to a strategic cooperative partnership, charting the course for the cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries. This year marks the 70th anniversary since the governance by the CPC, as well as the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Bangladesh Awami League. It is hoped that the ruling parties of the two countries will take this opportunity to well implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen exchange of experience in state governance and administration, support the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and Bangladesh's development strategy, promote pragmatic cooperation in all areas, and strengthen coordination at the international level, and jointly uphold multilateralism and multilateral trade system, to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Song also briefed Hasina on the CPC's ongoing education campaign of “remaining true to the Party's original aspirations and keeping its mission firmly in mind”, and delivered a congratulatory letter from the CPC to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Bangladesh Awami League.

Hasina expressed congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 98th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and thanked for China's long-term and great support for the economic and social development of Bangladesh. She said that Bangladesh cherishes Bangladesh-China traditional friendship and cooperation. The Bangladesh Awami League and the CPC share similar concepts and goals. Attaching great importance to the ongoing education campaign of the CPC under the theme of “remaining true to the Party's original aspirations and keeping its mission firmly in mind”, the Bangladesh Awami League is ready to learn the CPC in the experience of party governance and state administration, implement the memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation signed by the two Parties, and lead the Bangladesh-China relations to greater development. Bangladesh thanks for China's precious support on some international issues and is ready to work with China to jointly promote regional peace, stability, prosperity and development.
