 ( 2019.07.04 )

Beijing, July 4th--Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Nepali Foreign Minister.

Song welcomed Gyawali’s visit to China as foreign minister after more than a year. Song expressed that China and Nepal are good neighbors and good partners linked by mountains and rivers, adding that bilateral relations have developed stably since the establishment of diplomatic relations 64 years ago. The CPC attaches great importance to developing ties with the Communist Party of Nepal (NCP). Since last year, the leaders of both countries and both Parties reached a series of important consensus. Since then, exchanges at the central committees and at various local levels have become even closer. As ruling parties, the CPC and NPC share similar ruling concepts and shoulder the important task of leading the development of the country. The CPC supports Nepal in following a development path that suits its own national conditions, safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity and pursuing an independent foreign policy. The CPC is willing to work with the Nepali side to, on the basis of mutual respect and seeking common ground while setting aside differences, enhance mutual trust, share experience in party governance and state administration, jointly safeguard multilateralism and stay committed to building a fair and equal international order, in a bid to push the development and prosperity of the world.

Gyawali said he was glad to be invited to attend the 13th Annual Meeting of the New Champions. Nepal speaks highly of China’s efforts in resolutely supporting multilateral trade system and China’s positive role in safeguarding the interests of developing countries against the complex international environment. Nepal congratulated on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and thanked China for offering help for Nepal’s development over the years. The NPC cherishes the friendly relations with the CPC, firmly pursues the one-China policy and is ready to well implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries to push for new development of the socialist cause of each country in the new era and inject fresh impetus into the traditional friendship between Nepal and China.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional topics of common concern.
