Song Tao Meets with Adviser to the PKR of Malaysia and Deputy Prime Minister

Beijing, July 9th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Dato’Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, adviser to People's Justice Party (PKR) of Malaysia and Deputy Prime Minister.

Song expressed that China and Malaysia enjoy a profound traditional friendship. Zheng He’s journey to the West Oceans for seven times and to Strait of Malacca for five times is the best manifestation. China has always valued and developed the relations between the two countries and the two Parties from a strategic and lone-term perspective. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago, bilateral relations have enjoyed sustained and stale development, and the leaders of both countries have maintained close exchanges and led China-Malaysia relations constantly to new levels. It is hoped that the CPC and the PKR, the two ruling parties of the two countries, will strengthen strategic communication, grasp the right direction of the development of China-Malaysia relations, make the contributions of political parties to the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, facilitate the enhancement of coordination between China and the ASEAN on international and regional affairs, jointly safeguard multilateralism and multilateral trading regime, safeguard regional peace and stability and build a community with a shared future for mankind on the basis of mutual respect and mutual learning.

Wan Azizah spoke positively of the economic and social achievements of China and Malaysia-China friendly cooperation relations. She expressed that the coalition government of Malaysia values cooperation with China in various fields such as economy, trade and people-to-people and cultural engagement and believes that the Belt and Road Initiative put forth by President Xi Jinping will bring new development opportunities to Malaysia and other countries in the region. The PKR attaches great importance to its relations with the CPC and stands ready to actively learn CPC from its experience in party governance and state administration, resolutely combat corruption, lead the country to realize rapid development and bring benefits to the people. As a member state of the ASEAN, Malaysia is willing to make contributions to enhancing cooperation between the ASEAN and China and boosting security, stability and development of the region and the world.
