Song expressed that China and Lebanon enjoy a long-standing friendship and the ancient Silk Road connected China and Lebanon. General Secretary’ surname “Hariri” means silk in Arabic. It is believed that propelled by the FM, China and Lebanon will enjoy better cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. As ruling parties, the CPC and the FM play a political leading role in the relations between the two countries. It is hoped that the two Parties will enhance exchanges, cooperation and strategic communication to further push the relations between the two countries for in-depth development. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Lebanon, support Lebanon in safeguarding its legitimate rights and jointly safeguard multilateralism and multilateral trading system.

Ahmad said that recent years have witnessed the continuous development of Lebanon-China relations. Lebanon thanks China for the valuable support in issues regarding Lebanon’s core interests and major concerns, and will continue to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and safeguard free trade. The FM is willing to, according to the memorandum of understanidng with the CPC signed in 2017, deepen the institutional exchanges between the two Parties, advance personnel exchanges in youth, women, and media as well as promote cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
