Song Tao Meets with Non-partisan Delegation of Young Japanese Politicians

Beijing, August 19th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a non-partisan delegation of young Japanese politicians headed by Kiyohiko Toyama, Acting Chief General and Chairman of International Commission of the Komeito Party and Member of House of Representatives of Japan.

Song welcomed Kiyohiko Toyama to lead members of the new generation exchange committee between China and Japan to visit China for the seventh consecutive year. Song said that President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the G20 Osaka Summit in June this year, and they reached an important ten-point consensus on building China-Japan relations that fit the needs of the new era, thus charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. China and Japan are close neighbors with important regional and international influence. The world is undergoing major changes unseen in a century. China and Japan share common concerns and interests in maintaining world peace and stability and promoting prosperity and development. China is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the ruling and opposition political parties and politicians of Japan, maintain the momentum of improvement of China-Japan relations, promote further development of bilateral relations and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Kiyohiko Toyama noted that he was glad to visit China in the important year that marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and expressed his sincere admirations for China's tremendous development achievements in the past 70 years. Japan's non-partisan young politicians are willing to strengthen their understanding of China and contribute to the further development of Japan-China relations through the annual visit mechanism.
