Beijing, September 4th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan headed by Matsumoto Yohei, Deputy Chairperson of Diet Affairs Committee of Liberal Democratic Party Of Japan (LDP), and Member of House of Representatives of Japan.

Song said that as close neighbors, China and Japan are countries with important regional and international influence. The sound and steady development of China-Japan relations serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples. During the G20 Osaka Summit this year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe successfully met and reached the important ten-point consensus. The CPC is willing to strengthen cooperation with the ruling party of Japan to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, consolidate the political foundation of mutual trust and create a good atmosphere for high-level political exchanges between China and Japan in the next stage. The two sides should strengthen cooperation on international issues, jointly uphold multilateralism and the multilateral trading system and promote peace and stability in the region and the world at large. Song also appreciated the “Shisuikai” for actively promoting economic, trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation with China over the years. The Japanese side is welcome to actively participate in the ninth Meeting of China-Japan Ruling Party Exchange Mechanism to be held in China this year.

Matsumoto Yohei said that through the visit, the delegation has gained a better understanding of Chinese history and culture and felt the tremendous development of China today. Inter-party exchanges are an important part of the development of bilateral relations. “Shisuikai” is committed to promoting more visits to China by LDP lawmakers, enhancing the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, jointly dealing with various challenges we face and promoting the steady development of Japan-China relations.
