On December 14th, the Silk Road Think Tank Association (SRTA), an association initiated by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held an international video seminar themed on China’s new development paradigm and high-quality building of the Belt and Road cooperation. Song Tao, Minister of the IDCPC; Essam Sharaf, former Egyptian Prime Minister; Mizengo Pinda, former Prime Minister of Tanzania; Zlatko Lagumdzija, former Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Kevin Rudd, former Prime Minister of Australia and President of the Asia Society Policy Institute; Pochin Peng Lajun, former Chairman of the Thai National Assembly; and Ong Tee Keat, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia attended the seminar and delivered keynote speeches. The seminar was also attended by over 30 experts and scholars from Chinese and foreign think tanks.

Song said that the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was successfully held not long ago, and it has made important strategic arrangements to accelerate the construction of a new development paradigm with the domestic cycle as the main body and the domestic and international double cycles promoting each other. This will provide a robust impetus for the world economic recovery and prosperity, and open up a new realm for promoting economic globalization and provide a new support for building a community with a shared future for mankind. High-quality building of the Belt and Road cooperation is an important part of the construction of a new development paradigm. It is hoped that all parties will deeply explore the momentum provided by the new development paradigm for the high-quality development of the Belt and Road cooperation, and promote countries to strengthen integration between development strategies and connectivity plans. Efforts should be made to defuse the impact of the epidemic, cultivate new development focus, promote international cooperation and global governance reform and development. By doing so, we could jointly build a new consensus on building a community with a shared future for mankind, and make the Belt and Road a road of cooperation, health, recovery and growth.

Political heavyweights, experts and scholars attending the seminar discussed the topics such as China's new development paradigm and new opportunities for the win-win cooperation with the world, high-quality building of the Belt and Road cooperation, and promoting the construction of an open world economy. They spoke highly of the proposals for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 and believed that China's construction of a new development paradigm will not only inject important impetus to China's new journey, but also provide new opportunities for the international community to achieve economic recovery and development after the epidemic. The world today is facing a series of severe challenges. All parties should uphold multilateralism, uphold fairness and justice, promote the construction of a green, clean, healthy, and innovative Belt and Road cooperation, and jointly promote the world economy and global governance towards a more just, reasonable and mutually beneficial and win-win development to bring benefits to mankind.

Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the IDCPC and Co-Chairman of the Council of the SRTA, presided over the opening ceremony.
