Song Tao Holds a Video Talk with Le Hoai Trung, Chairman of the Commission for External Relations of the CPV Central Committee

Beijing, April 19th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held a video talk here today with Le Hoai Trung, Chairman of the Commission for External Relations of the Central Committee of Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Song conveyed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and said that General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have stayed in close contact through various means in recent years, reaching a series of important consensus on the overarching and strategic issues in China-Vietnam relations, and charting the course for the development of China-Vietnam relations. Both sides have overcome the adverse impacts of the COVID-19, maintained close inter-party interaction at all levels, continuously deepened exchanges and studies of theory, made new progress in institutionalized exchanges of Party organizations at local levels, witnessed growing two-way trade despite the headwinds of the epidemic as well as implementation of major infrastructure projects, and further enriched the connotation of China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The CPC is willing to, together with the CPV, continue to take the important consensus of the top leaders of the two Parties as the fundamental guideline, deepen theory and experience exchange in party building and state governance, and give play to the unique advantages of inter-party channel, so as to promote the long-term and stable development of China-Vietnam relations. The CPC is also ready to work together with all ASEAN member states, including Vietnam, to advance practical cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and jointly safeguard peace and stability of our region and the world, so as to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Song emphatically introduced General Secretary Xi Jinping’s key judgment about the “five paths China must take”. He said, General Secretary Xi Jinping, who keeps in mind the larger strategic picture of national rejuvenation and the once-in-a-century changes occurring in the world, has put forward the key judgment about the “five paths China must take”, and brought the CPC’s understanding of the laws that underlie governance by a Communist party, the development of socialism, and the evolution of human society to a new level. The 20th CPC National Congress will be held in the second half of this year. This meeting is of great importance, as it will be held at this critical moment when China is embarking on the new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects and achieving the second centenary goal. The Chinese side will inform the CPV of the relevant information of the congress in a timely manner after it concludes. Song also introduced Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the Global Development Initiative put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping.

Le Hoai Trung conveyed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s best wishes to General Secretary Xi Jinping, and congratulated the CPC on realizing its first centenary goal, which laid a solid foundation for the pursuit of the second centenary goal. He firmly believed that under the strong leadership of CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core and the guidelines of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, China will score even greater development achievements in national development and its building of socialism. Le Hoai Trung introduced the latest development of the CPV and Vietnam since the 13th National Congress of the CPV, saying that both countries overcame the impacts of the epidemic and made new progress in economic and social development, which once again proved the strengths of the socialist system. The Vietnamese side attaches great importance to and earnestly studies the important judgments put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping, particularly the major theoretical innovation. The Vietnamese side is willing to, together with the Chinese side, well implement the consensus of the top leaders of the two Parties, strengthen high-level exchanges and exchanges of all levels, push relations between our two countries to a new stage featured by higher-level political mutual trust, more practical cooperation and more solid friendship, maintain communication and coordination with the Chinese side in multilateral affairs, and boost relations between the ASEAN and China. The Vietnamese side eagerly expects the 20th CPC National Congress, and wishes the 20th CPC National Congress a success.
