Zhu Rui Attends the Opening Ceremony of Webinar for Young Leaders of South Sudan SPLM

Beijing, April 19th—Zhu Rui, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended here today the opening ceremony of the webinar for young leaders of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) of South Sudan. Over 30 young cadres of the SPLM, including Daniel Abocha Ali, South Sudan SPLM Political Bureau Member and Youth League Chairman, and Hua Ning, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, were present.

Zhu spoke positively of the relations between the CPC and the SPLM and the relations between China and South Sudan, and praised SPLM’s firm support for the Chinese side on issues related to Xinjiang, Hong Kong, human rights, and the tracing of the origins of COVID-19. Zhu said, the CPC attaches great importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with the SPLM, and is willing to, together with the SPLM, well implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Salva Kiir Mayardit, take the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the relations between our two Parties as an opportunity to further enhance political mutual trust, deepen cooperation in cadre training, strengthen experience exchange in state governance and administration, and facilitate youth exchange and friendship between our two peoples, in a bid to push China-South Sudan relations for continuous progress. Zhu also emphatically introduced the achievements and experience of the CPC's century-long struggle and whole-process people’s democracy.

Congratulating on the opening of the webinar for young leaders of South Sudan SPLM, Hua said, the CPC and the SPLM share similar visions and missions, and have always supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns. Hua added that the webinar will further promote the capacity-building of young cadres of the SPLM, deepen inter-party communication and exchange between the two countries, and inject fresh impetus into the development of the relations between the two Parties and two countries.

Abocha spoke highly of the great development achievements the Chinese people made under the leadership of CPC, and thanked the Chinese side for the selfless help and support for the vast number of developing countries, including South Sudan. Calling China a true and good friend of South Sudan, he said, the SPLM stands ready to enhance friendly exchanges with the CPC, learn fruitful experience in such areas as party building, poverty alleviation, and cultivation of young cadres from the CPC in an in-depth way, and constantly improve its capability of state governance and administration and improving people’s livelihood, so as to make greater contributions to promote the development of South Sudan-China relations.
