Shen Beili Attends Opening Ceremony of Webinar for Scholars of Think Tanks of Latin American Countries

Beijing, September 6th—Shen Beili, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended and addressed here today the opening ceremony of the webinar for scholars of think tanks of Latin American countries. Over 40 scholars from 19 think tanks of 12 Latin American countries, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences attended the ceremony online. Shen mainly introduced the great achievements and successful experience of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core in advancing the building of socialism with Chinese characters in the new era, and introduced the relevant situation of the upcoming 20th CPC National Congress. Shen spoke positively of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Latin American countries, and hoped that the exchanges between think tanks of China and Latin American countries will contribute to the further development of China-Latin America relations under the new circumstances. Fernando Reyes Matta, Director of the Center for Latin American Studies on China at the University Andres Bello, delivered a speech on behalf of the Latin American side. Matta spoke highly of China's remarkable development achievements and their global significance under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and expressed the willingness to strengthen exchanges between think tanks of both sides to push Latin America-China cooperation to higher levels.
