Beijing, May 18th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Adrian Nastase, President of Titulescu European Foundation and former Prime Minister of Romania.

Liu said, the peoples of China and Romania have long been friendly. The CPC has established friendly cooperative relations with major political parties of Romania, including the Social Democratic Party. Liu said, the Chinese side is willing to create more opportunities for practical cooperation between our two countries through the "political party +" platform, and promote the stable and long-term development of bilateral relations. It is also hoped that the Romanian side will actively exert its influence to promote the sustained, healthy and stable development of China-EU relations.

Liu said, in the face of a severe and complex international environment and domestic development tasks, China, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, will stay committed to promoting high-quality development and high-level opening up, and advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization. This will bring new development opportunities to countries all over the world, including Romania. The Chinese side actively promotes the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and implements the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative. The Romanian side is welcome to actively participate in these initiatives and inject more positive energy into the world of turmoil and transformation.

Nastase said he was very happy to visit China again after 20 years and sincerely admired the tremendous development China has achieved over the years. As a witness of Romania-China relations, he firmly believed that the friendship between the two peoples can be further strengthened and the friendly cooperation between the two countries can be continued. This is not only based on the historical traditions of the two countries, but is also based on the common strategic interests. Profound changes have taken place in today's world, raising many new questions for all countries and requiring more and new answers. China's active efforts in promoting reconciliation in the Middle East and the resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine have fully proved the significance of the global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. The Titulescu European Foundation is willing to play its role to push for greater economic and political development of Romania-China relations and make more efforts for EU-China relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern such as the Ukraine crisis.
