Liu Jianchao Meets with a SNS Delegation

Beijing, July 31st—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a SNS delegation led by Petar Petkovic, Member of the Presidium of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Serbian Government.

Liu said, in recent years, under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandar Vucic, China-Serbia comprehensive strategic partnership has maintained strong development momentum, and cooperation in various fields has been at a high level. The CPC and the SNS, as ruling parties of respective countries, have maintained close exchanges and continuously made new achievements in high-level exchange of visits, cadre training, and multilateral cooperation, effectively consolidating the political foundation of relations between the two countries. In the face of profound and complex changes in the international situation, the two sides should view China-Serbia relations from a strategic height and a long-term perspective, uphold and develop China-Serbia friendship, support each other in safeguarding sovereignty, independence and national dignity, follow a development path that suits their own national conditions, jointly defend the principle of non-interference in internal affairs and safeguard international fairness and justice.

Liu said at present, the CPC is uniting and leading the Chinese people to advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through a Chinese path to modernization. China's economic and social vitality will be further released. The SNS has continuously achieved positive results in leading the country's development. The CPC is willing to deepen experience exchange in state governance and administration centering on issues such as party building and cadres with the SNS, and supports cooperation between such organizations as think tanks, youth and women of both sides. It is hoped that the two sides will jointly explore and build an innovative platform of "political parties + practical cooperation", which will serve as bridges for bilateral exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, and cooperation at local level, and help the development and revitalization of respective countries. The Chinese side is willing to join hands with the Serbian side to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, promote the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Petkovic said, Serbia sees China as a sincere friend. I have visited China for many times, and I deeply felt the hospitality and friendliness of the Chinese people during every visit. The SNS highly admires the great achievements of the CPC in leading China in realizing national unity, eradicating absolute poverty, and promoting economic and social development. In recent years, the leaders of Serbia and China have reached important consensus on developing bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, guiding practical cooperation between the two countries for rapid development. We are proud of it.

Petkovic said, political parties play an important leading role in national development. The SNS attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with the CPC. Close inter-party exchanges have effectively enhanced strategic communication and traditional friendship. During this visit, the delegation visited provinces and cities in China, and further learned more about the CPC's experience and practices of party building at local level. He said, we hope to strengthen experience exchanges and mutual learning in party building and state governance with the CPC, and firmly believe that the CPC will lead the Chinese people to achieve greater achievements in the process of building Chinese modernization, realize the second centenary goal, which will continue to bring new opportunities to the development of Serbia. The Serbian side firmly adheres to the one-China principle and firmly supports China's position on issues concerning China's core interests such as the Taiwan question, and issues related to Hong Kong and Xinjiang. We firmly support the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the concept of the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. The Serbian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to strengthen coordination of international and regional affairs.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern, including the Kosovo issue.
