Liu Jianchao Meets with Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development of Singapore

Beijing, January 29th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Sim Ann, Deputy Party Whip of the People's Action Party (PAP), Chair of the Women's Wing of the PAP, and Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development of Singapore.

Liu said, in recent years, leaders of China and Singapore have maintained close exchanges, with expanding cooperation areas between the two countries. Bilateral relations have become more mature and carry more strategic significance. The CPC attaches great importance to developing relations with the PAP, and is willing to work with the Singaporean side to continue to strengthen exchanges and interactions between the two Parties at all levels, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in party building and state governance, and expand exchanges in strategic communication, local practical cooperation, and exchanges between youth and women's organizations of the two Parties, so as to better promote the development of China-Singapore relations.

Sim Ann said, the PAP cherishes its friendly and cooperative relations with the CPC and hopes to strengthen high-level exchanges and regular exchanges between the two Parties, expand exchanges between youth, women's organizations and local governments, continuously deepen mutual understanding, and promote common development.

Peter Tan Hai Chuan, Singaporean Ambassador to China, and others were present.
