Beijing, April 19th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with London Nicole Breed, Mayor of San Francisco. 

Liu said, the successful meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Joe Biden in San Francisco last November has opened up a future-oriented "San Francisco vision". Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-US relations have recently show stable momentum, which has been welcomed by various sectors of the two countries and the international community. President Xi Jinping pointed out that the vitality of China-US relations comes from exchanges at subnational levels. San Francisco has long been at the forefront of developing relations with China among states and cities in the US. The close relationship between China and San Francisco vividly reflects the intertwined interests of China and the US, demonstrating the essence of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. Both sides should strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, scientific and technological innovation, cultural tourism and other fields to promote the sound, stable, and sustainable development of China-US relations. 

Breed expressed her pleasure to visit China again and said that through this visit, she has gained a deeper understanding of China and witnessed the latest changes in China in recent years. San Francisco is the gateway for the US to Asia and has deep ties with China. The Chinese community plays an important role in the economic and social development of San Francisco. San Francisco is willing to leverage its advantages in cooperation at subnational levels to build more bridges between the US and China to promote friendship between the two peoples, and further consolidate the positive momentum created by the meeting between the two head of state in San Francisco. San Francisco hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as economy, trade, tourism, environmental protection, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence, increase direct flights, and contribute to closer exchanges between the two people and the development of US-China relations.
