BEIJING, Feb. 4--The International Department of the CPC Central Committee held today in Beijing a background briefing on "the Political Party System in China and the Way of Governance of the CPC". The briefing was attended by nearly 60 diplomats including many ambassadors accredited to China from 23 countries and from the Mission of the League of Arab States in Beijing.

Deputy Director Fang Li of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee was invited to make a brief introduction on the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the CPC's way of governance. Vice-Minister Li Jinjun of the International Department introduced the external exchanges of the CPC. The two speakers also took questions on relevant topics.

"It is our common wish to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the CPC and foreign diplomatic missions in China. And upon such a shared wish, we have organized today's important briefing. We will make other arrangements on different occasions in the future and invite the ambassadors and other emissaries for further exchanges." said Li Jinjun.

Diplomats from countries like Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen and Palestine were actively engaged in that briefing, and respectively raised questions like the form and content of the political consultation of the CPC with the democratic parties and personages without party affiliation, and the percentage of young members in the CPC.

The diplomats from Western Asia and North Africa commended the International Department for making positive response to their requirement of gaining deeper knowledge about the CPC and for holding this background briefing timely. They described the briefing as one that provides "in-depth reading of China's political party system with live interactions", and that it has answered to the interest of the diplomats in the political party system in China and the way of governance of the CPC as well as the external exchanges of the Party in a deep-going, precise and comprehensive manner. The event has showcased the CPC as an open and transparent party with a pragmatic style of work.

Ambassador Sleiman Rassi of Lebanon said "the briefing has benefited the whole audience a lot. In Particular, it has made us more acquainted with the CPC and the political party system in China. We are looking forward to regular activities of this kind in the future by the International Department."

According to reports, in September 2009, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee held a news briefing on the main spirit and outcome of 4th Plenary Session of 17th CPC Central Committee for foreign diplomats accredited to China and foreign media with office in Beijing.
