On July 16th, Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, had telephone conversation via videolink with Jeronimo de Sosa, General-Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), exchanging views on relations between the two Parties and countries and issues of common concern.

Qian commented positively on Portugal-China relations and anti-epidemic cooperation between the two countries, expressed gratitude to the PCP for its efforts in promoting cooperation between the two sides in various fields, saying that the CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges between the two Parties, enhance mutual understanding and mutual trust, promote the development of China-Portugal relations, and jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Jeronimo de Sosa spoke highly of the people-centered philosophyof the CPC, appreciated China's positive achievements in fighting against COVID-19 and its important contributions to the international cooperation in pandemic response, and expressed the willingness to further strengthen unity and cooperation between the two Parties, thus contributing to the development of Portugal-China relations and Europe-China relations.
