Song said, China and Iran enjoy a long-standing friendship, which has become stronger as time goes by. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, President Xi Jinping has spoke on the phone with President Hassan Rouhani, reaching important consensus on China-Iran cooperation in fighting the COVID-19 and jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative. The governments, enterprises and peoples of our two countries have supported each other through various ways, jointly writing the story of the mutual help and cooperation in combating the pandemic of the two countries. The IDCPC is willing to, together with the Expediency Discernment Council, earnestly implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, jointly give play to the advantages and political leading role of strategic communication, continuously enhance exchanges in concept, and guide public opinion of the two peoples, so as to push China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership for greater development and push China-Iran friendship take deeper root in the hearts of the two peoples.

Song commended Iran for firmly supporting China on issues regarding China’s core interests. Song said, China resolutely supports Iran’s efforts in safeguarding national stability and safeguarding its legitimate rights, and is willing to work with all sides to maintain the international system with the United Nations (UN) as the core and regional peace and stability, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind. Song also mainly briefed on the third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, and the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speech at the high-level meeting to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UN.

Rezaei congratulated on the 71st anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and thanked China for the precious support and help for the Iranian people in combating the pandemic. He said, the Expediency Discernment Council attaches high importance to communication and exchanges with the Communist Party of China, and is willing to deepen bilateral strategic communication and boost cooperation in various areas between the two countries. The Iranian side expects to learn from the Third Volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, fully agrees with the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speech at the high-level meeting to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UN, and speaks positively of China’s positive role in international affairs. The Iranian side hopes to work with the international community, including the Chinese side, to jointly safeguard multilateralism and international fairness and justice.

Both sides also exchanged extensive and in-depth views on issues of common concern.
