Song Tao, Minister of the IDCPC, read out a congratulatory letter from General Secretary Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony. Song stated in his speech that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has placed poverty alleviation in a prominent position in state governance, adhered to the Party's leadership as a fundamental guarantee for poverty eradication, and taken development as a fundamental measure to eradicate poverty, relying closely on the people as the fundamental force for poverty eradication, and system construction as the fundamental guarantee for poverty eradication. The fight against poverty has been launched in an all-round way. The absolute poverty of the Chinese nation for thousands of years will be solved for the first time in history. Such efforts have won the support from our people, and carry milestone significance for China and the world. At present, the global poverty reduction process still faces many challenges, and there is an urgent need for the international community to strengthen cooperation in poverty reduction. The political parties of all countries should join hands to shoulder the responsibilities for poverty eradication; adhere to mutual learning and continuously strengthen the exchange of experience in poverty alleviation; uphold multilateralism and continue to deepen international poverty reduction cooperation; and adhere to seeking common ground while reserving differences, promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and contribute wisdom and strength to the realization of the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Yu Weiguo, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, said in his speech that General Secretary Xi Jinping always puts the people at the highest position and takes the poor who need help the most as the deepest concern. No matter where he works, he will unswervingly promote poverty alleviation and development, and strive to lead the people to a better life. When General Secretary Xi Jinping was working in Fujian, he took the lead in leading the people to fight poverty, thus laying the most solid ideological, political and working foundation for the fight against poverty in Fujian. In studying and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s innovative ideas and major practices in promoting poverty alleviation and development in Fujian, we have four understandings: first is to always take poverty alleviation as a strategic measure to consolidate the Party’s governance foundation, and resolutely carry out the political responsibility in poverty alleviation; second is to always adhere to helping people increase confidence in their own ability to lift themselves out of poverty and help the weak hatchling bird become the first to take flight, and fully stimulate the endogenous motivation to get rid of poverty; third is to always adhere to the targeted strategies, and explore ways to get rid of poverty and get rich in light of local conditions; and fourth is to adhere to the persistent and constant efforts to run the relay race of getting rid of poverty.

Representatives from various countries spoke highly of the congratulatory letter from General Secretary Xi Jinping to the meeting, stating that poverty eradication is the common goal of all mankind, and poverty reduction and development are the common tasks of the international community. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, China has made great achievements in poverty alleviation, created a miracle in the history of poverty reduction in the world, and contributed Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to the cause of poverty reduction in the world. At present, in the face of the new situation of human poverty reduction, the international community, including the political parties of various countries, should shoulder the important responsibility of poverty eradication, take joint actions, intensify solidarity and cooperation, strengthen experience sharing, and strive to build a world without poverty but with common prosperity.
